What's better than a win on your favourite slot? It's a win with your alias ranked above a whole field of fellow players, of course! That's the appeal of a slots tournament – seeing how your spins on a familiar game are ranked against everyone else's on a live leaderboard. We host these contests daily here at Springbok Casino, because we know there's a special kind of satisfaction in spotting your own alias near the top of that list!
There's more than one kind of event among our online slots tournaments… Some are freerolls you enter for mahala, while in others you pay a buy-in, and one player takes the entire pot home. You can top up your credits in some of our tourneys, too, for extra spins and more playing time. How do you find these events, and how is the winner worked out on the leaderboard? Lace up your takkies, Bokke – it's tourney time at Springbok Casino!
Where to Find Our Tourneys – The Tournaments Tab & Side Menu
First things first – where are our tourneys? Once you've logged in here at Springbok Casino, our lobby for online slots tournaments can be opened in two ways. One is the Tournaments tab in the row of game categories, between Video Poker and Specialty. The other is the casino menu on the side of your screen, where Tournaments is listed between Coupon and Withdraw. Either way, the same list of events is displayed, sorted into five tabs:
- Under All, every event on the schedule is listed, whatever its status.
- The events you've bought into are kept under Enrolled.
- Events that are under way appear under In Progress.
- Events that haven't started yet are grouped under Upcoming.
- Finished events are moved to Completed.
Beside those tabs are a search box and a filter, and the filter is our favourite of the two. Tick Show Free Rolls Only, and every paid event is removed from the list, or drag the buy-in slider to the amount you're comfortable with. You can also narrow the list to events with an add-on or a re-buy, to one status, or to the slot you'd most like to play. We South Africans love a freebie, so we suspect that first tick box will be a popular one!
Click on any event, and its details are displayed in a panel on the right. The lekker part is that the start and end times, a countdown, the number of players enrolled against the maximum and the prize pool in rand are all listed up front. Below those are the Buy-In and Add-On tabs, where each purchase is set out in rand, credits and minutes. Here at Springbok Casino, we're transparent about figures, so you can compare our events before you buy in!
Which Tourney Will You Enter? Freerolls & Guaranteed Pools
We rotate the events on our tournament schedule regularly, but each one of them falls into a particular class of event – with little exception. In addition to that, each tourney is linked to a specific slot, where you can expect titles such as Cai Hong, Penguin Palooza, Nine Realms and Plentiful Treasure. The prize pool is often easy to spot as it forms part of the event name, which is handy if you're scrolling! Here are a few typical tourney structures you'll encounter:
- The Weekly R500 Freeroll Action has a R0.00 buy-in, and its R500 pool is shared between 36 places.
- In a Daily Winner takes it all R500 Guaranteed event, the buy-in is R50 and there's a single prize.
- In R250 Added Roaring Lion Fun, R250 is placed in the pool before the first entry, and a share of every buy-in is added to it.
- Daily Small Stack Action R50 Guaranteed has the smallest buy-in on our schedule at R25, and it lasts 24 hours.
- Restricted events, such as Springbok Affiliates Double, are opened with a password.
If you've never participated in online slots tournaments, we recommend starting with a weekly freeroll. It's the best way to learn the format on our credits without exposing your own bucks just yet. Once you're comfortable with the format, a Daily Winner event is a step up, as the R500 prize goes to just one player out of up to 1,000! You buy in at R50 for a shot at ten times that amount, and we'd call that good value!
How big can our online slots tournaments get? BIG, mense. The weekly freeroll has room for up to 25,000 players, against 10,000 in the added and small-stack events. The freeroll stays open for seven days, while most of the daily events at Springbok Casino end after three and the small-stack event after 24 hours. With that much time on the calendar, you can mos pick your perfect moment to play and gun for that top spot in any of our events!
Buy-Ins & Add-Ons - How You Pay to Play in a Springbok Tourney
A buy-in is your entry ticket, and for it you receive a stack of tournament credits and a time limit to play them in. In the weekly freeroll, you start on 2,500 credits and five minutes for R0.00 - yes, zero rand! Winner Takes it ALL R50 Added has a R27.50 buy-in for 3,500 credits and five minutes as well. Every buy-in to our online slots tournaments is paid from your real-money balance, and if an event is ever cancelled, your buy-in is refunded to your account.
An add-on is a second purchase of credits and playing time, and it's the tactical side of a tourney. In the weekly freeroll, you can buy 5,000 extra credits with ten minutes of playing time for R50, which is twice the 2,500 credits you start with. Why bother with one? More credits and more time mean more spins, and every spin is another shot at the top! This is how the weekly freeroll compares with a Daily Winner event:

Re-buys are the third purchase type in our online slots tournaments, and we offer them in selected events only. To find an event with a re-buy, tick Re-Buy in the filter, or look for a rand amount in the Re-Buy column of the tournament list. The cost, credits and number of re-buys are set per event, just like the add-ons, so you might get a single re-buy in one tourney and several in another. Either way, once your credits are loaded, it's showtime!
Climbing Our Leaderboard & Collecting Your Prize in Rand
The beauty of our online slots tournaments is that the credits you win in the tournament slot count as your points, so the bigger your wins, the higher you climb. Press Play once you've bought in, and keep spinning until your credits are spent or your time is up. Your position and your highest score are listed beside your alias under Leader Board, along with everyone else's, so you can see how many points you need to beat the next score up!
Has your Wi-Fi ever dropped halfway through a spin? Eish, we've all been there, so this is how we handle a disconnection here at Springbok online casino. If you're disconnected during one of our online slots tournaments, your slot isn't spun on your behalf. Reconnect within the tournament time and you carry on where you left off. And if you can't, your Win Box total is kept as it was. The points you've won stay right where they are, and we think that's only fair!
Now, about those prizes… Every event in our lobby is marked Payout: Cash Prize, and the prize is paid in real money into the winner's account. A Daily Winner event has one place on its Prizes list, while the R500 in the weekly freeroll is shared between 36 places, so you're in the money with a finish as low as 36th. The winner's R125 is a full quarter of the pool, nogal! These are the top places in the freeroll:
- First place is worth R125.
- Second place is awarded R80.
- The third-place finisher receives R60.
- Fourth and fifth places are awarded R46.25 and R35.
- Places six to nine are worth R25, R16.25, R12.50 and R10.
- Places 10 to 36 are awarded between R6.25 and R2.25 each.

Quick FAQs on Online Slots Tournaments at Springbok Casino
A few of the finer rules of our online slots tournaments are set out in our Terms & Conditions, under the Slot Tournaments heading. We've pulled out the four we'd want answered first, and our support team on live chat confirmed each one for us. Do you have another question mid-tourney? Send it to that same team on live chat – they're on hand 24/7! For the full set of rules, open Terms and Conditions in our side menu and scroll down to that heading.
Q: Can I use bonus money for a Springbok slot tournament buy-in?
