Springbok Tips for Caribbean Stud Poker
Historically, stud is one of the later versions of poker. It was first introduced in about the mid-1800s to increase the number of betting opportunities. In our version of Caribbean Stud, you are dealt five cards face up and have the option to either fold or place a second bet.
As with all our poker games, the objective is to beat the dealer by holding the best cards. The dealer must have an Ace and King or a pair or better to qualify for the round. Hands are adjudicated according to the traditional poker hand rankings.
To Fold or Bet Again?
In this type of casino poker, the dealer is dealt four cards face down and one card face up. The key to winning – or limiting your losses – is to know when to bet again, or fold and forfeit your ante bet. The biggest challenge is to make the decision based on the cards in your hand and the dealer’s solitary up card.
If you are dealt poor or mediocre cards there is no way of improving the hand. That is the basis of the first of our Springbok tips. When you have a choice of games, as you do, it is arguably a better bet to play draw or holdem poker instead.
Caribbean Stud RTP and Payouts
How about the statistical data? What do the numbers tell us about Caribbean Stud? In this form of online poker, the long-term average return to player (RTP) is 94.79%.
The payouts are as follows:
- Royal flush – 100 to 1
- Straight flush – 50 to 1
- Four of a kind – 20 to 1
- Full house – 7 to 1
- Flush – 5 to 1
- Straight – 4 to 1
- Three of a kind – 3 to 1
- Two pairs – 2 to 1
- One pair – 1 to 1
- High card – 1 to 1
Springbok Tips for Caribbean Holdem Poker
Holdem poker is the most popular poker game on the planet. It is the main event at live poker tours like the World Series of Poker (WSOP). That is where players win gold bracelets, and prize pools easily reach a million dollars and more!
At Springbok Casino, we can’t offer you a million rand or even a combined prize pool. What we have done is integrated a network progressive jackpot into the mix – and that applies to all our Caribbean Poker games. More on that a little later on.
In the meantime, let’s take a closer look at Caribbean Holdem poker. In this action game, you can use your cards and the community cards to form the best poker hand. Here is how the game works.
Community Cards at Your Disposal
Both you and the dealer are dealt two cards and the table gets three community cards. Your cards and the community cards are dealt face up. The dealer’s cards are concealed.
If you think you can make a winning five card hand featuring your two cards and the community cards, you can make an additional bet twice the value of the ante bet. Alternatively, you fold, forfeit the initial bet and the round ends.
When you bet a second time, a further two community cards are dealt face up. You now have the option to use your two cards and any of the five cards on the table to create a winning 5-card poker hand. In this game the dealer’s qualifying hand is a pair of fours or better.
Caribbean Holdem RTP and Payouts
Besides the added boon of community cards that can be used to strengthen your hand, Caribbean Holdem has a decent 97.84% RTP. What that means is for every R10 bet, you’ll get an average of R9.78 back over the long-term.
Here is how the payouts stack up:
- Royal flush – 100 to 1
- Straight flush – 20 to 1
- Four of a kind – 10 to 1
- Full house – 3 to 1
- Flush – 2 to 1
- Straight – 1 to 1
- Three of a kind – 1 to 1
- Two pairs – 1 to 1
- One pair – 1 to 1
- High card – 1 to 1
- Call payout – 1 to 1
Lower Payouts, Greater Chance of Winning!
As you can see, the hands with the highest probability of occurring pay out even money. Across the board, the odds are lower than that of Caribbean Stud poker. Only the royal flush offers the same prize.
The lower payouts compensate for the clout of the community cards. When you have seven cards at your disposal, the chances of making a winning hand are that much greater. That is why Springbok tips Caribbean Holdem over Caribbean Stud!
The Progressive Jackpot Component
As we have already mentioned, all our Caribbean Pokers offer a network linked progressive jackpot. You must place an optional side bet, equal in value to the ante bet, to qualify for the pot. At the time of writing the jackpot available in all three games had reached over R211,000.
How can you grab a quick R200k or more? By hitting a royal flush. Achieve a straight flush and you are awarded 10% of pot. A four of a kind, full house and flush pay out R500, R100 and R75, respectively.
Now back to the poker…
Springbok Tips for Caribbean Draw Poker
Draw poker is not only one of our Caribbean pokers. It is the basis of all our video pokers games, from Jacks or Better to Double Double Jackpot Poker. The reason why Springbok tips Caribbean Draw Poker as the best of the three games is you can draw up to two cards to improve your hand!
The deal is similar to that of the other two games – you get five cards face up and the dealer gets four face down cards and one up card. The dealer needs at least a pair of eights to qualify for the round. Once you have assessed the open cards, you can either fold or discard two of your cards, draw new cards and bet a second time.
Play Draw Poker for the Best Odds
Here is a snapshot of the poker hand rankings and corresponding odds for Caribbean Draw Poker:
- Royal flush – 100 to 1
- Straight flush – 50 to 1
- Four of a kind – 20 to 1
- Full house – 7 to 1
- Flush – 5 to 1
- Straight – 3 to 1
- Three of a kind – 2 to 1
- Two pairs – 1 to 1
- One pair – 1 to 1
Why Springbok Tips Players to Choose Caribbean Draw Poker… Every Time!
When it comes to potential winnings, draw poker is similar to stud but with higher prizes for a straight and three of a kind. What makes draw poker the best proposition for players at Springbok Casino is the fact you can draw to strengthen your hand. That, and the game’s 99.3% RTP!
