The fifty-two-card pack we all know is French in its layout, with the four suits and the court cards that European card makers settled on several centuries ago. The Joker is the one card in that pack with American parentage, and the odd part of it is that the card was never invented for poker in the first place. That game is euchre and the decade is the 1860s. American euchre players wanted a trump that outranked every other trump on the table, and the card printed for that job was called the best bower. - Samuel Hart printed the first illustrated "Best Bower" card in 1863, his Imperial Bower, and that is the earliest Joker on record.

Two of the four hands in that table cannot exist anywhere else in our video poker tab at all. Both of them exist purely because of that fifty-third card in the pack, and both of them pay handsomely whenever they turn up on your screen. A standard pack cannot produce either hand at all, which means two of our biggest video poker payouts are simply absent from all fourteen of the other titles in the Springbok Casino lobby.
Three hands in total become possible the moment a Joker is added to the deck, and these are the three to learn before your first deal at Springbok Casino. Each one is listed on the paytable at the top of your screen, and each is priced according to how much the wild card did for you in reaching it. Five Cents or R25 – What You Put on a Joker Poker Hand
What a hand costs you and what it returns come down to two settings, and okes mix the two of them up constantly. The first is the coin count, one through five, which changes the credit figures printed on the paytable itself. The second is the denomination, running from R0.05 up to R5, which sets what a single credit of your video poker payouts is worth in rand.
